ART CLASS MEETS TWICE PER WEEK FOR 40 MINUTES EACH CLASS

Students are expected to bring their sketchbook to class each day.  Class often starts with a quiet warm-up drawing (QDT).  The sketchbook will also be used for brainstorming ideas, making thumbnail sketches and rough drafts.  Sketchbooks are also used for note-taking, research and self-reflections.

A summary of progress, including information from student self-reflections and self-assessments, along with information from pre-assessments and both formative and summative assessments will be provided in narrative form at the end of the first and second semesters, at report card times.  Formative assessments include the gathering of information through daily observations, interactions, conversations, questioning and completion of activities.  Summative assessments can be considered tests.  Letter grades will not be a part of the grading system in art.
