5/6 - Watercolor Animals - 2016/17
Recent animal watercolor paintings played an important role in connecting Art to 5/6 LA/SS/D. Both curricular areas incorporated the theme of animals in the subject matter. In art, students chose an animal, maybe it was the same one as LA/SS/D, or maybe they chose a different animal. Nonetheless, the paintings incorporated a variety of watercolor techniques from stippling, watercolor wash, dry brush, dabbing to remove color intentionally as in clouds, sgraffito techniques to emulate the texture of fur to blowing paint with a straw which lent a more abstract feel to their work. Have a look into the animal world with the snapshots attached. In addition, the photographs will be on Artsonia.com for you to peruse and perhaps order your child's art on a variety of products offered through Artsonia. A portion of the proceeds come back to Eagle School in the form of funds for the Eagle art curriculum.
