5/6 Routes of the Black Death 2019/20

5/6 students learned about the history of The Black Death from the 1300's in both Art and LA/SS/D. This integrated art lesson features areas where the devastating destruction occurred. Students looked at maps of the areas affected and then chose a geographical location to focus on. They looked at many aspects, from geographical points of interest, to current day architecture. This lesson brought to the forefront the history of The Black Death and how these areas recovered and are striving today. Chalk pastel was used on stencils the students created to symbolize architecture and skylines. Some chose to enhance their pieces with printmaking, stamping and collage.
