6/7 Skeleton Drawings - 2016/17

What a great time of year to look at the human form with a uniquely time appropriate drawing of a skeleton. No spooks or goblins were allowed however! Nonetheless, we borrowed the miniature skeleton from the science room. Students were introduced to the mathematical equation of drawing the human figure "eight heads tall". Renaissance artists idea of the ideal human form was eight heads tall. Not many of us are actually eight heads tall, but the measuring system is still used to draw the human figure proportionally. Chiaroscuro is the drawing method which creates the illusion of a three-dimensional form on a two-dimensional surface. This technique was Introduced by Italian Renaissance artists, Rembrandt is the most well-known artist who worked with this technique. Take a look at the examples.
