7/8 Portrait Drawing - 2017/18
Students chose a black and white portrait of someone they were inspired to draw. Before beginning the drawing, sample value scales were practiced in order to understand the differences between the many types of drawing pencils and the tones created from each pencil. The pencils ranged rom ebony and charcoal pencils to a range of 2B-8B pencils. The portraits were drawn using the grid method. By enlarging images with this technique, realistic images are achieved and the whole can to be broken down into parts. Artists throughout history have used reference pictures as a technique to create art. The results of this lesson are amazing. The 7/8's did a terrific job!
