5/6 Adinkra Cloth - Printmaking 2017/18

Adinkra cloth from Ghana, West Africa is a hand-printed fabric made by the Ashanti people. The symbols are made by carving a gourd called a calabash. Adinkra cloths were traditionally made for royalty to wear at religious ceremonies. 5/6 students carved two symbols, a traditional symbol and one of their own creation to represent themselves. A "community cloth" was made by all 5/6 students to represent the entire group. In addition, each student created their own cloth.
