Alebrije wood carvings from Oaxaca Mexico were introduced with a video of artists Zeny Fuentes and Raul Morales carving and painting these brightly colored Mexican folk art sculptures. Alebrije means of fantastical (fantasy/mythical) creatures. Some artists combine different animal features within one sculpture. Perhaps the animal would have donkey ears with a giraffe type neck for example. After creating their animals from clay, acrylic paint was used to add a variety of designs and lines in multiple colored paint pens.
